Shenzhou 12 astronauts plan to carry out two extravehicular activities during the orbit, mainly completing four tasks.
According to the overall arrangement of shenzhou-12 manned mission, the three astronauts will mainly complete four aspects of work during orbit, and plan to carry out two extravehicular activities and extravehicular operations.
According to Ji Qiming, assistant director of China Manned Space Engineering Office, the four main tasks are: first, daily management of core cabin combination, including in orbit test of sky and core cabin, verification of regeneration and life insurance system, testing and operation training of mechanical arm, and management of materials and wastes. Second, two EVA and extravehicular operations shall be carried out, including the on-orbit transfer, assembly and test of the extravehicular service, the assembly of the extravehicular toolbox, the lifting of panoramic camera and the installation of the expansion pump set. Third, we should carry out space science and technical experiments. The assembly and test of the space application task experimental equipment, the practical (Trial) tests in the field of space application and aerospace medicine, and related scientific popularization education activities shall be carried out according to the procedures.
